Bute vs. Froch? Not On May 5th

By Daniel Cloutier

Yesterday "Le Journal de Montréal" ran an article about IBF Super Middleweight Champ Lucian Bute and his next opponent. According to David Messier, InterBox Public Relations representative, "We don’t have any deal or agreement with Ed Hearn for the fight Bute vs. Froch in Nottingham May 5th. A fight with Bute/Froch in England May 5th is not logical. We have a date for April 14th in Montréal and we still want to get Carl Froch for that event. We are still waiting for his answer. But May 5th seems illogical because two of the most popular fighters in the world, Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Miguel Cotto, will fight that night in Las Vegas. All the attention of the boxing fans in the world will be focused on Las Vegas. We have until March 9th to hear back, then we make a decision."

Messier added, "Even if there is no certainty as to the date of a possible clash with Froch (28-2, 20 KOs), Bute (30-0, 24 KOs) will leave anyway to training camp next Monday in West Palm Beach, Florida.

Dr. Pierre Doré confirmed that Pier-Olivier has no disease. Medical tests are showing that he is just suffering from over training. He will take few months of rest, and get back in the gym. At this point, we don’t know when Pier-Olivier will have his next bout.
