WBO welterweight champion Antonio “The Tijuana Tornado” Margarito threw out the ceremonial first pitch at Dodger Stadium before the game Monday night against the Atlanta Braves.

With the likes of Manny Pacquiao, Miguel Cotto and even Shannon Briggs taking the hill and throwing out the pitch at Major League ballparks around the country it was about time for Margarito to take the hill and there couldn’t have been a better place for him to do it than Chavez Ravine in Los Angeles.

Tony’s manager Sergio Diaz told Pound4Pound.com, “This honor definitely shows that Tony is considered one of the elite fighters today. We found out about this night about two weeks ago and Tony was really excited. He has been counting down the days ever since!”

After throwing out the first pitch the Champ took time to post with Dodger greats like Nomar Garciaparra,  Tommy Lasorda, Grady Little and Fernando Valenzuela.

Margarito has been the WBO welterweight champion for more than five years. Referred to as “the most feared man in boxing,” Margarito has made seven successful title .  He has only lost once in the past 12 years – by technical decision to then-defending WBO light middleweight titleholder Daniel Santos.

On July 14th  from The Home Depot Center in Los Angeles, Margarito will take on number one challenger Paul Williams in a bout that is sure to be a real barn burner and should not be missed.

Tickets, available for as low as $25, are on sale at Ticketmaster outlets and online at www.Ticketmaster.com, as well as The Home Depot Center Box Office (open Monday-Friday, 10 a.m.-6 p.m.).  The first bout July 14 will begin at 5:30 p.m. PT.
