Valero Finally Exposed

By William Trillo

For 26 fights WBC Lightweight Champ Edwin Valero flew under the radar like a Stealth Bomber on a secret mission. The Venezuelan B-52 was not only undefeated but all of his fights ended by KO. No one has gone the distance with ol’ Dynamite hands.

But because of an accumulation of different reasons, like being banned from fighting in the U.S.A. because of a motorcycle wreck head injury, being denied a U.S. visa because of a drunk-driving charge in Texas, along with his strong support for Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez, Valero has seemed more of an urban myth than a real fighter. But…the days of him destroying opponents and then riding off into the sunset with fans saying “Who was that masked man?”, are officially over.

With his Showtime televised destruction of Interim Champ Antonio DeMarco this weekend everyone in the U.S.A. is now very aware of this guys talent and it shouldn’t be long before we see him in some big match ups, and it won’t just be “Bomb’s Away” as many might assume.

Valero can box, he can throw punches in combinations and then get out of harms way before you know what hit you. And if that’s not enough he gets better when he tastes his own blood. An errant elbow opened a gash on Valero’s head in the second round that would have made most mere mortals quit. Not so with Valero who only got stronger and more determined from that point on.

One quick look across the 135 pound landscape and I am pretty convinced Valero is going to be sitting on top for quite some time! And now that Valero is a proven commodity in the U$A let’s see how long it takes for lifetime bans to get lifted and Visa’s to get renewed.

Up, up and awaaaaayyyyyyyy!

I was very impressed as well. At times I couldn’t tell if I was watching Valero or Pacquiao.

Been a Valero fan even since he was just a youtube sensation and he has actually improved a lot, first time I saw him show some boxing skills… against DeMarco. He still need to make a lot of adjustments though before he asks for the Pacman fight.

I’d like to see him clean the lightweight first…Katsidis & Diaz I think are no match against Valero, he can take them out easy..when he moves up to jnr welter, i hope he beats the crap out of malinaggi first before facing the speedy Bradley

…and finally if he keeps winning…going up to face Pacquiao…this would be a superbowl in boxing…easy to make, w/o any prima donna acts to frustrate the fans

I have been saying this for a long time now… Boxing doesn’t need mayweather. Valero is just another opponent mayweather would refuse to face. If his excuse for not fighting Pacquiao is suspected PED use, mayweather’s excuse against Valero would be fearing a conspiracy against him involving Hugo Chavez.

I was also very impressed with Valero. He had a lot more skills than I thought and if his defense improves he will be very tough to beat.

Luis if mayweather fights Valero he would be fighting another 135 pound fighter but if he doesn’t he is scared right?

I’m another that has been a fan from way back … if you really want to see how impressive he was even earlier in his career check out youtube & search for his sparring match against Erik Morales (when Morales was training for his earlier fights against PacMan) you’ll be amazed at his dominance over Morales.

  7. Manny's godfather in Hawaii says:

Obviously i like Manny’s style, but that boy Valero is plenty good! Little bit on the rough side, needs more polishing by a really good respectable trainer (not named Mayweather). But if they were to meet, ai ai ai! there will be fireworks indeed. It will be bigger than may-pac fight i believe, due to the Latinos & Pinoys respect for both fighters. I know Valero wants Manny in the worst way, but not yet iho. You gotta go through the needle’s eye, like Manny did. Clean up your division; go up in weight & fight their top guys. Like Manny did! Then, fight Manny.. You’ll get knocked out, but hey, I’ll still be your fan!

    Thank you Pacland..
