Stop Drinking The Kool-Aid

How many different ways can Floyd Mayweather twist, stretch and bend the truth before all you Kool-Aid drinkers see things for what they truly are? Or are all you just going to keep swallowing that toxic punch that Floyd is serving up until the end of time?

Immediately following his victory over Juan Manuel Marquez Mayweather was asked about fighting Manny Pacquiao. Floyd said Manny is a good fighter but we would have to talk to his management.

A few weeks later Floyd went on ESPN chiding Pacquiao for doing exactly the same thing. Floyd tried to rip Manny for when being asked about a possible fight with Floyd the Filipino replied, “You have to talk to my promoter.” Floyd said Manny needed to say for himself that he wanted to fight Floyd Mayweather.

I guess what is good for the goose Goose isn’t always good for the Gander.

When Manny finally did say he wanted to fight Floyd the fight negotiations seemingly got off to a great start until Floyd came up with his own set of rules outside of any sanctioning body or State Athletic Commission. Basically what Floyd was saying is you take this fight on my terms with my rules or the fight is off.

Mayweather wanted random blood testing because he suggested he had suspicions about Pacquiao’s weight gain although the record clearly shows that Manny and Floyd grew at pretty much the same rate since they both weighed 106 pounds at 16 years of age.

After some compromising on Pacquiao’s part and mediation there was little budging Floyd and the fight went into the ash can.

In a press release concocted to make Floyd look like a hero, the fighter wrote, “I am thoroughly disgusted that Pacquiao and his representatives are trying to blame me for the fight not happening when clearly the blame is on them. Before the mediation, my team proposed a 14-day, no blood testing window leading up to the fight. But it was rejected. I am still proposing the 14-day window but he is still unwilling to agree to it, even though this is obviously a fair compromise on my part as I wanted the testing to be up until the fight and he wanted a 30-day cut-off. The truth is he just doesn’t want to take the tests.”

NEWS FLASH! Floyd Mayweather Jr. is not the Nevada State Athletic Commissioner. He does not make the rules, he does not mandate drug tests to ANYONE!

Floyd then blathered on about how it’s Manny who is denying the people a great fight and we should see through his smokescreens. He also said something about how he still wants this fight to happen so he can whip Pacquiao’s “punk ass.”

Apparently Floyd is sipping a lot of that Kool-Aid himself.

He has never wanted this fight from day one. He knows it is a fight he could EASILY lose. And YES, his undefeated record is worth more than 45 million dollars to him.

Floyd feels that without that ZERO he will lose his identity if not his manhood. These are deep seeded problems that go down deeper than just getting beat up physically. Bob Arum hit the entire problem on the head when he said of Mayweather, He’s a psychological coward who doesn’t want to fight anybody who has a chance of beating him!”

It’s time for everyone close to Floyd to stop enabling him. Mayweather has been coddled for too long now and he believes he is bigger than the sport of boxing. Until Floyd’s family, friends & fans stop giving in to his every whim things will never get any better and scenarios like we have seen play out over the past month will become commonplace in any Mayweather negotiation.

I completely agree with you Mr. Trillo. Well said.

  2. DrtyBoxing says:

Ive been reading this website for a while now and I think its hilarious how many of your writers are Mayweather haters…You guys said Arturro Gatti would beat him…”mayweather has never felt the power that he will feel when Gatti hits him”…you guys said Barrera would beat him..”Floyd has never had a fighter in his face the way Barrera will be…Floyd hates pressure..how will he handle Barreras pressure”….Oscar will beat him…Hattons got a chance….even as far back as the fallen Diego Corrales…who was the tallest hardest hitting opponent Floyd will ever face…the undefeated..never been down Diego Corrales…remember what he did to him??
Love Pac and can definitely see him winning the fight how bout the two people that gave Pac the most problems(in my opinion)…Erik Morales..taller fighter, straight puncher…and JMM…excellent counter puncher…Two of the qualities Mayweather will be bringing in the ring with him…I dont get how most of you guys dont seem to be giving him a chance…Like hes just gonna get destroyed….Anyway , hope the fight happens..Quit Hatin

  3. Frank Boff says:

Good points, DrtyBoxing. Styles make fights. How can Pacquiao beat a bigger stronger man in Cotto, but struggle every time he faces JMM, a lightweight at best. Taking that into consideration, however, you forgot to mention the man who actually beat Floyd but didnt get it on the cards, Jose Luis Castillo. Most people thought he won their first fight, and the scorecards on the second were all 115-113. Castillo is a body puncher and a pressure puncher, two things Manny does quite well. Floyd does not like to be hit, and especially in his body. That’s one reason why Manny would probably beat Floyd, although Floyd being a counterpuncher and bigger, yes he does present problems for Manny.

  4. Luis says:

steroid boy can end all this by taking the test.

  5. Threat says:

DirtyBoxing, when did Barrera fight Mayweather? I think that about sums up the rest of what you said. The fact you posted a quote regarding a fight that never happened puts holes in the rest of your so called quotes.

If Gatti “didn’t have a chance”, and Marquez “didn’t have a chance”, and Hatton “didn’t have a chance”, and Oscar “didn’t have a chance”, and Corrales “didn’t have a chance”, and this so called Barrerra fight that never happened “didnt have a chance”, then you basically admit each were mismatches and never should have been made and Floyd should have fought better competition. Good job admitting that ;) and you’re stilla fan of his why? Oh, because you like the bully. Good point :|

    The end.

  6. Threat says:

and Luis, will you knock it off with that “THE TEST” bs already. It isnt “A TEST”, it’s a series of tests. Pac agreed to THREE which he doesnt need to do anyway. So in reality, Floyd would have ended it if he…

A: didnt make requests that are not required in the rules.
    or
B: accepted Pac’s willingness to take 3 of his requested tests that he didn’t need to in the first place.

Pac didn’t need to agree to that but he did and it STILL wasnt enough for Floyd.

Therefore it’s a way out of the fight for Floyd. Good job on not seeing that. Here’s a walking stick for you blind boy.

  7. justafan says:

Thats why its called negotiations, may has right too ask for certain things in the contract pac does too and they both have the right too disagree with what the other camp wants. this could have easily been over something else in the contract. may could have requested pac too where pink gloves with matching boxer shorts with the name ms. pac on the back of them.

  8. the expert says:

well JMM if he fought Manny now… what you think will happened???

well there is always room for improvement my friend.. don’t believe in a saying that old dogs can’t learn new tricks…

it’s on the trainer and the willingness of the dog to learn.. know we all know human is better than a dog don’t we??? or else your some kind of a psycho…

PACMAN improved from the DIaz to now why??? he said after the fight with marquez i realize that watching opponents past fight is important for me to learn about his styles..

i think he said it on cotto’s fight.. he’s a philosopher of boxing a student who wants to learn more there is nothing wrong with that….

PACMAN is strong dude you can see from his record that he always aims K.O. or TKO.. MARQUEZ is hard to put down even Gayweather only drop him once which is way bigger that PACMAN..

  9. KJ says:

I think what this episode discloses is (1) most boxing fans and sports writers know next to zero about performance enhancing drugs and (2) how inadequate NSAC’s announced tests are for detecting them. The way folks throwout that Manny agreed to 3 specific blood tests, no KNOWN dates, as proof that he was down for the testing is laughable. The point of random testing, true random testing, is that the athlete has no control over when they happen. If they know, then it gives them time to cycle off or employ masking agents. Now, this isn’t saying that Manny is on PEDs, it’s just explaining the problem with his insistence on knowing/controlling when the random tests will occur. If he’s got nothing to hide, then just agree to the random testing–it’s just one more point to be negotiated, like say a catch weight (which he seems rather fond of). This isn’t about Mayweather. This is about Manny.

  10. KJ says:

From a negotiating standpoint if it is a meaningless give, but it is meaningful to the other side, then you extract other meaningful gives to concede the point. Floyd’s conceded the other points (including the ridiculous $10MM fraction of pound penalty). Now a clean Manny refuses random testing because ??? Sure it’s not required by NSAC, but neither is a $10MM penalty. Or most of the issues they negotiate over. And even when Floyd offered to split the difference (Manny wanted random blood testing to stop 30 days before the fight, Floyd wanted up to the fight), with a 14 day cut off, Manny still balked, and offered 24 days in mediation. All I can say is that, from a pure negotiating standpoint, Manny’s actions indicate that he’s not interested in making a deal here. 10 days. That’s what it boils down. Each would have gotten/given up something with Floyd’s compromise.

  11. JG says:

    KJ,

Are you sure that Fraud Mayweather was willing to concede on any points? When the promoters were set to fly out to Dallas for an inspection of the premises, his handlers just CANCELED his plane ticket without an explanation. They weren’t even willing to consider a concession. Such a concession would have been GREAT FOR THE SPORT OF BOXING AS A WHOLE. On the matter of blood testing, Manny & Top Rank were willing to concede by letting the NSAC hold a hearing on the matter & make the stipulations. Floyd & GBP refused to make any type of concession on this point either. He wanted it his way or no way. It was Floyd’s camp who refused on several points. Manny’s point the entire time was that this topic should be left up the governing commissions, not negotiation. And that is a valid argument. It is in the best interest of the sport as a whole for the commissions to handle this matter & require stronger regulations. But Floyd wants everything his way. That’s the point of the article, he believes he’s bigger than the sport itself.

  12. DrtyBoxing says:

    Sorry meant Baldomir…not Barrera

  13. DrtyBoxing says:

And I said nothing about those fighters “not having a chance”..dont know how you make that interpretation with what was said …I said that this website is Constantly picking against Mayweather and telling its readers why hes going to lose…and in each of those fights mentioned this website was telling you why Mayweather was about to lose..I wasnt bashing any of his competition

  14. JG says:

    DrtyBoxing,

I’ve been monitoring this website for years. I can count on one hand the number times the editors have picked Mayweather to actually lose. They’ve cheered against him & have pointed out the problems that an opponent might give to Floyd. But I don’t recall any of them picking Gatti, Baldomir, or Hatton to actually win. Your confused ignorant one. Pointing out the strengths of an opponent doesn’t necessarily mean they think Floyd would loose. In the case of Corrales & DLH, there were good reason for picking these guys to possibly pull it out. Some feel DLH deserved the win. Same with Castillo. When Floyd faced Corrales they were both still pretty young & undefeated. So you can’t call it hatin’ just because they thought Corrales could pull it out. Instead of just dismissing sound argumentation as hatin’, present some sound arguments of your own. It is your dismissal of logic & laying up of straw men that classifies you as a nut hugger.

  15. Threat says:

It’s clear DirtyBoxing was pulling random quotes out of his bum. Corrales and Floyd fought in 2001. Pound4Pound wasnt around until 2004 ;)

    Nice try tho.

  16. DrtyBoxing says:

Ok “cheered for him”..sorry maybe I worded it wrong…Look, Im not gonna get into arguments or name calling(nut hugger haha..cant even believe Im responding to someone who used that term)…was just pointing out the fact that every fight the guy has Im on here reading about how hes going to lose or not be able to deal with whatever strength the opponent is bringing to the ring…I could care less who you guys root for…just was pointing out the obvious dislike for Mayweather by this sites writers..not offended by it, just making an observation..

  17. DrtyBoxing says:

JG you said you can count the amount of times this site has picked Mayweather to lose…my math says that would be around 5…my good friend Threat points out that P4P has been around since 2004….so that would make about a fight a year, assuming you have 5 fingers…sounds about right to me

  18. William Trillo says:

    Thanks JG,

You pretty much said everything I was going to say to DrtyBoxing.

The fact is we have not picked against Floyd like that at all. Truth be told Floyd hasn’t really fought anybody good enough to pick over him. But thanks to you both for reading.

And just to set the record straight, we were not even up and running when Floyd fought Corrales so the chance of us “hating” on Floyd for that fight is ZERO.

Between that snafu and the Barrera mention I will pretty much go ahead and file DrtyBoxings words under uneducated information.

p.s. you can say you meant Baldomir all you want DrtyBoxing, but the fact that you claimed to quote what we said and used Barrera’s name (twice) tells me you were just throwing a handful of horse crap on the wall to see if it would stick…..nice try

  19. DrtyBoxing says:

Wow you guys are relentless…haha..I all ready apologized for and changed my wording from “picking against” to “cheering for” and Ive watched enough boxing to know that Floyd never fought Barrera..simple mistake sorry I confused one mexicans last name that begins with a B for another…my bad…the point of my original comment was me laughing at how many anti-Mayweather articles and blogs their are on this website…Thats It…go back as far as the Gatti fight and everyone from Brett the Threat to Jackie Snow and on down the line had an opinion about why the fight would be Floyds “toughest ever”…Once again , I could care less about Mayweather or your opinions on him , I was just making an observation…If I was such a huge Mayweather fan believe me I wouldve stopped reading this website long ago…sorry if my timelines were a little off…didnt know I was being graded..Next time Ill do better research and get my dates and times right so I dont anger all you sensitive blog readers

  20. Luis says:

    2 undeniable facts.

    1. Manny does no way in hell want random blood testing, why ? only he knows. but if he was as clean as he wants us to thinks he is, he would have no problem with random testing.

    2. Will The Thrill is the man ! I may not agree with his Manny nut-hugging, but he keeps us coming back to this great site, because his boxing journalist point of view keeps us engaged, and it kicks ass. ………….but then again, after all them steroids, Manny probably dont have any nuts left.

    3. I know I said 2, but what the heck, point number 3 is, Juan Manuel Marquez kicked Manny’s arse twice, a third time would be no different. why is Manny avoiding Marquez ?

and for all the Manny-holics, explain how in the Morales vs Manny I, how Manny hit him with everything but the kitchen sinks and did NOTHING to Morales ? then after he did his first cyckle of HGH, he came back KO’s Morales ?

shout out to my tocayo Boricua !

  21. Threat says:

Luis, maybe you dont remember, but after Morales beat Pac, he then lost widely to that bum Raheem, and was even dropped. So that was the beginning of the end for Morales. If Raheem could drop him, then Pac was sure to put ont he finishing touches, which he did.

  22. Tim says:

Threat, Morales wasn’t KD by Raheem he was just outboxed.

  23. ARCHANGEL says:

    luis:

again, the burden of proving an accusation should be on the accuser! it is not the other way around. are you living in a place where people are always treated as suspects unless he proves himself innocent!
nobody, much more the accusers of pacman can present any kind of evidence whatsoever to even suggest that he is on something!
are you luis living on the moon or the planet mars? what kind of living standard do you uphold? i’m sure it’s not human in any way cause its no way near logic much more on sound human principle….and i thought you were using the english language as medium of communication! clearly it shows that you either don’t understand english or your damn fool brain cannot accept basic reasoning!
“pacman is on drugs bec. somebody says so….” ha! stupid dog-like thinking man!!!
only a stupid guy like you would submit himself into something which is not clearly needed bec. nobody can even come up with a single or half an evidence that pac is on drugs – hence, the LAWSUIT!!!!

  24. ARCHANGEL says:

    luis:

oh yeah! you mean you are better than those judges who said that pac won against JMM? next time pass your resume to the boxing commission….maybe they’ll consider taking you in bec. you know better…yeah you know better – better clean the toilets man!
your reasoning is really crooked…..im not wondering now why posted IDIOTIC UNDENIABLE FACTS !!!!!
better go and kill yourself man ! your beyond help !!!

  25. JG says:

    DrtyBoxing,

There are 10 featured writers with Pound4Pound. There are an additional 13 CONTRIBUTING writers with Pound4Pound. That’s 23 points of views per fight. Of the 23 opinions, only a few picked DLH. That pretty much made up the entirety of the picks against PBF in the last 5 years. If only 1-3 writers go with the underdog in each fight, does that really classify the entire staff as haters?

Guess what, there were more predictions on P4P picking Cotto over Pac than the number of predictions of DLH over PBF. Furthermore, if you compare the predictions before each each of these guys fights with Hatton, DLH, & Marquez, you will find that the writers gave PBF a better shot of victory than they gave Pac. Does that qualify P4P as a “Pac Hatin’” site?

    Luis,

When discussing the negotiations of this fight, ask yourself 1 question: What is in the best interest of boxing? So when discussing the venue (Dallas vs Vegas), what is in the best interest of sport & who stopped that from happening?

When discussing the blood testing (NSAC hearing the arguments & changing it’s policies vs allowing PBF alone to decide for the entire sport), what is in the best interest boxing & who stopped that from happening?

When discussing mediation (NSAC hearing which would allow for the formal change of policy vs a judge in Cali with absolutely no authority in the sport as a whole), what is in the best interest of boxing & who stopped that from happening? Top Rank & Pac clearly were willing to attend a hearing that would allow PBF & GBP the chance to present their arguments & change the minds of the commission. Instead of allowing the NSAC (again, the commission whom PBF chose when they refused a fight in Texas) to function in its capacity as a governing body, Floyd decided he wanted to just apply his own rules for one fight rather than encourage the entire sport to change. He’s not interested in fare-play for the entire sport. If he was, he would have made his case to the commission.

BTW, the commission already ordered both fighters to begin testing. Floyd hasn’t done it yet. That urine test may have been a meaningless effort on the part of NSAC. But if Floyd really wanted the fight, then why did he refuse to take the test? Apply the same ‘if your clean you’ll take it’ standard to Floyd.

  26. It’s not Kool-Aid. It’s Fool-Aid that Floyd, his team, and his fans have been drinking.

    Yes we need better testing.

But until proven otherwise, Manny should be considered innocent.

  27. JG – Just to set the record straight, I spoke to the Nevada State Athletic Commissioner Keith Kizer early last week and he told me that both Manny and Floyd submitted the urine tests as demanded by the commish.

As I said in and earler piece, Kizer has the right to test any fighter licensed in his State at ANY time whether or not they are fighting, in essence, RANDOM DRUG TESTING!

  28. JG says:

Trillo – Thanks for setting the record straight. I stand corrected. Way staying on top of things.

  29. Grady Wilson says:

good googly moogly!! how much times do you have on your hands to count writers, check their articles and then give your interpetation of those stats? you guys have way too much time on your hands.

  30. floyd is a big chicken becouse he is always raning all the time floyd you are the biguest pusy in the word of boxing you never going to be like pacmen go back to wwf becouse you look good as a cland
