It was only after my Guardian Angel warning me that I have been away too long that I realized it had been a while since I chimed in with my thoughts. It's not that I have been loafing mind you, it's been a tad busy here in So Cal and what with 2 major press conferences and some hot local fights....geez....
excuses excuses...which reminds me....

Speaking of Floyd Mayweather, I am glad he was amused when the Tecate Girl at the Southern California press conference passed out and hit her head on the stage. That laughing while she was down was about as classless an act as I have seen in quite some time....nice work Pretty Boy!   Darchinyan Wins While Guerrero Wows At The Show
Report & Photos By Roy & Marlene Marquez
WBC &WBA super flyweight champion Vic Darchinyan doled out a twelve round beating to Mexican challenger Rodrigo Guerrero in a thoroughly captivating one-sided fight. The scorecards read 118-110, 117-111 & 120-108 but didn’t begin to tell the drama that unfolded in the ring. The fight took place at The Show at Agua Caliente Casino Resort & Spa in Rancho Mirage, CA and was shown on SHOBOX: The New Generation.

“I am not happy to lose but I feel really good”, said Guerrero through an interpreter following the fight. “I think people now know who I am and that I didn’t come here to lose or just to lie down.” Guerrero may have lost the fight but he certainly won the crowd and the respect of the champion. “He took all my punches and kept fighting back”, explained Darchinyan. “If I didn’t train hard or if I took this guy lightly this is a much harder fight and maybe I lose.” Click Here For Full Report

Shamone Alvarez Knocks Out Alexis Camacho
And Other Results From Star Boxing
At The Tropicana in Atlantic City

By Tim Donaldson
Shamone Alvarez was able to do what he could not do against Delvin Rodriquez and Joshua Clottey. Shamone Alvarez was able to look like a true contender with a future in the Welterweight division. Maybe the pressure was off. There were no television cameras for this fight. Or maybe the pressure was on for Alvarez to prove himself once again in the ring. No fighter wants to fade into obscurity. Whatever the reason, Alvarez gave the fans the fight they wanted to see and the critics the fight that will force them to take another look.

My "Pacquiao Time" Day At Wild Card
By Barbara Pinnella
A week ago I did an interview with Steve Forbes at Wild Card Boxing Club. At the time I wrote that up, I mentioned how lucky I felt to be able to not only do my interview face to face, but to watch Steve spar with Manny Pacquiao, and then get to stay the rest of the afternoon to watch the remainder of Manny’s training.

Now, after looking at the pictures taken at Media Day, I am really just as excited when I think about the events that took place on the day I went, as I was right after I left. So I decided to write up a little story on my impressions of the goings on, more from a fan point of view than that of a journalist.   Alexander vs. Urango Post Fight Quotes
Devon Alexander: “My coach told me to stay focused when Urango started bleeding [from the nose in the third round]. My coach said, ‘Don’t stand there and get hit.’

“I can beat anyone: Zab, Timothy Bradley, you name it. I want to come back to St. Louis and sell out the Scottrade center. I’m coming back to good old St. Lou with two world titles. This is very sweet.”

Juan Urango:
“I’m very happy and satisfied with my performance tonight. Devon is a great champion and he came out and did his job. I performed well but Devon won tonight.” Click Here For More

Alexander Scores Impressive KO Over Urango,
Unifying WBC & IBF Super Lightweight Titles

Devon Alexander (now 20-0, 13 KO's) unified the WBC and IBF Super Lightweight Titles with an 8th round stoppage over tough Juan Urango. Alexander started fast, popping out quick jabs and right hands, keeping his distance, but still engaging. Urango was hunting for big shots, turning the tide slightly in round 6, catching Alexander more than a few times. Alexander remained calm and took control back, landing a monster, right uppercut, counter that lifted Urango's head almost a foot before he fell to the canvas. Urango would rise to weak legs as a straight right put Urango down again almost instantly. Urango rose again, but was not steady enough to continue. Final time was 1:12 of the 8th. Urango falls to 22-3-1 with 17 KO's.
